1870 Farm Summer Camps
Day & Overnight

1870 Farm
Summer Camp

Offering kids an opportunity to unplug and tune in to the natural world.

Each week at camp spotlights new topics for ever-changing exploration and fun.

Campers grow, learn, and play through hands-on projects and developmentally appropriate activities, including animal care, indoor and outdoor games, crafts, pickle making, fishing, gemstone mining and much more.

Our unique farm setting is particularly special for animal lovers and children curious about the natural world.

We are fortunate to have a cast of friendly animal residents who provide campers a chance to connect, learn, and build confidence and responsibility through caretaking.

Our trained staff centers our campers' physical and emotional health and well-being in all they do.

This safe learning environment enables campers to try new things, build friendships, and make memories all summer.

Multiple weeklong camp options are available for ages 5-13, as well as a CIT program for 14-16-year-old campers looking to lead.

We can't wait to see you at camp this summer!

All Day Camp | ages 5-13

8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Day campers explore, create, and discover together through various hands-on activities. Specialized daily activities enable campers to dive deep into visual and performance art, outdoor and indoor games, culinary skills, gardening, outdoor skills, and animal care.

Junior Camp | ages 3-5

8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Junior camp is a great first step for our youngest campers! A half-day session builds confidence in little ones, enabling them to try new things and enjoy many of the same activities as our older day campers in an age-appropriate context.

To set Junior campers up for the best possible experience, we ask that they be able to use the bathroom independently, communicate about their needs, and have some experience attending programs outside the home (such as kindergarten or other community programs).

Counselor In Training (CIT) | ages 14-16

8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Our CIT program is the perfect opportunity for older children ready to build leadership skills and experience camp from a new perspective. CITs work closely with 1870 Farm staff to learn about program facilitation and assist with daily camp activities.

Overnight Farm Camp ages 8-13

Sunday Afternoon- Friday Afternoon

Our overnight camp offers an exciting blend of farm fun by day and dynamic activities on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus by evening. Kids will enjoy a variety of recreational facilities, which may include climbing walls, the aquatic center, and outdoor activities. This co-ed camp pairs campers with same-sex roommates and provides three meals a day, along with snacks. It's the perfect balance of outdoor adventure, sports, and UNC campus experiences!
